2011-02-07 by Vabolo Thanks a lot! I'll get right on it, after I finish my Saga kit, my 2x4 bass (that I saw on your blog) and all my boring old schoolwork!
2011-02-06 by Scott W. Vabolo, you should definitely build one! This one is no longer in my possession or I would take off the lid and show you the innards. It's really simply though.. the neck goes all the way through the tin. You can take it through & out the opposite side, and use that end to hold your strings. You could also secure it inside the tin with a screw/strap holder as i've done here. Make sure the neck is a few mm above the bottom of the tin so it does not damper the vibration. Good luck!
2011-02-06 by Vabolo Could you post pictures of or explain how the neck is connected to the tin? I saw this earlier on today, and remembered that old tin cookie container I have lying around, so I naturally want to make something similar! :P

Ye Olde Celtic Banjo (August 2008)
This is a short-scale (20") tenor banjo made from an old nut tin, 'Ye Olde Nut Shoppe." It's tuned GDAE for mandolin fingering.
