That is the most awesome guitar I have ever seen. I want to be you when I grow up. Seriously man, this is fantastic. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic! I did not know anyone else was experimenting with Chronotransient enabled instruments. I like the system you have developed. It seems a lot more stable than mine. I will admit to cheating a bit and using a cheap Flux Capacitor in mine which makes it very hard to start, and somewhat dangerous to operate. I have described the system on my website:
http://www.techmonkeybusiness.com/the-baddest-mountain-dulcimer-ever.html.
If you have any suggestions about gaining greater stability I'd be keen to hear.

This marvel of technological ingenuity and exquisite artistry inspires both mind and soul. I retrotelegraphed Mr. Tesla a steamlink to your site... he wants one.

Awesome guitar, Scott. just read about you winning for this. Congratulations on a well-deserved victory. I hope to one day build a guitar that is steampunk because of you. Proud to tell the world about your site and instruments, and cannot wait to see your next brilliant creation. See you soon. Your cousin,

Jason

Please, please, PLEASE make a recording of this instrument!

PS. Do you know of Diego Stocco? He's made some pretty unique instruments, playing living plants and a burning piano, among other things.

(February 2011)

7D9887, aka "Time Slider", is a lap slide with a few unique features. The most obvious is its autonomous bass string with an off-set, shortened scale-length and lowered action. This allows the player to comfortably fret the bass with a thumb while using a slide at the same location on the other strings. Another unique feature is the mobile pickup, providing an additional way to control tone. A less obvious feature of 7D9987 is it's naive application of general relativity to quantum mechanics - the ability to send sound waves very slightly back in time. (learn more)
